DÉZINE
When you refer to my latest creation, please call it a Dézine. Because it is not a website. It is not a blog. It is my heart’s desire. I went back and reclaimed my young adult dream of launching my own magazine. It is not too late. I am still here. I still have a desire to express myself at a high level, where content and aesthetics warrant the banner of something respected and thoughtful. And because we are now living in the digital age, my dream was still in arms reach. So I rolled up my sleeves and hunted down a part of me that still wanted to breathe. InTheLandofMara.com is my digital magazine. Hence, the new term, Dézine.
Naming things matter. Claiming the dream and the name is the power I have in this moment and place and time and I ask you to refer to my latest baby by its proper name and describe it as it exists — a Dézine. And please spread the word.
InTheLandOfMara.com will launch new content seasonally, always on the 27th of the month. The next drop is October 27th — my Mommy’s birthday! During the gap months, look out for more spontaneous bursts of creativity in the form of newsletter updates, one-off essays, champagne room announcements, photo albums, and new mood playlists. Thank you for continuing to celebrate with me. We get one life and I want to live it and dance under the streamers of my party, where I also swing one hell of a piñata stick so I can set free all of my fantasies, whims, and dreams to pour out for me to enjoy and share with you.
And thank you for showing up for its birth a month ago ( 8.12.2021 at 7:12am EST— note to self, get her chart read ). I had a long pregnancy. My co-creation almost didn’t make it into the world. Fear was wrapped around her possibility, much like the umbilical chord that almost choked my own life. But I’m here. And my Dézine is too. I pray it grows up and blows my mind… and yours.

I am excited for the birth of dezine congradulations . I am hopeful with you sharing the different inspirations it will encourage myself and other to be free and birth the babies we have inside. Thank you for still giving birth no matter the situation and place. Life is often full of stuff that would make us forget about our own things they deserves life and attention. Thank you for helping me see my beauty be birth.
