Sheroes Aren’t Born, They are Nurtured
In honor of my mother’s birthday, I donated to Shero’s Rise, sherosrise.org — an organization that is committed to giving girls a foundation of confidence to support their journey in their education, personal growth, and well-being.
My mother, who believes in the vibrational power of energy through numbers, is a practicing numerologist, and for years she has told me that this new century, beginning in 2001, would shift to make room for feminine energy. The numbers said so, and that is why we are in such transformational change. The universe is making way for new thoughts.
And because she also raised me to “lift as I climb,” I couldn’t think of a better way to honor my mother’s power and legacy than by extending it to a generation of girls growing up during these seismic shifts in culture, climate, and human rights.
We have lived a millennium without girls and women having a true seat at the table. Imagine what our world can be when the ideas and thoughts and visions of girls and women are anchored in the systems, institutions, and infrastructure of our world. Well, we won’t know until we support young girls in finding their voice and learning how to use it for themselves and the greater good.
“I couldn’t think of a better way to honor my mother’s power and legacy than by extending it to a generation of girls growing up during these seismic shifts in culture, climate, and human rights.”
That’s what my mother taught me. All that you see in me is her love and care and encouragement for me to know who I am, find my voice and learn how to use it, and allow it to evolve as I grow.
Perhaps this action will inspire you to also think about giving the person who has it all a donation in their name to SherosRise.org, that will give wings to a girl to soar.
Happy Birthday, Mommy. You will forever be my favorite Shero!
