Words on the Road

This past May makes 53 years I’ve spent earth-side. I’ve welcomed life in all of its various shapes and forms… the lessons, the gifts, the explorations, the journeys, the STILLNESS. Oh, God, we can not overlook the stillness. Being still and allowing myself to stop and listen to God’s whispers is one of the greatest gifts I could give myself. That better me serves my children, my marriage, my family and friends, my community, my writing, my work, my play, my pleasure, my purpose, and my heart’s desires.

Now, in that same breath, I’m not gonna lie – I been outside y’all! Hey, sometimes stillness is 30,000 feet in the air on a flight to Paris. I am so grateful that Gemini Season blessed me with the space and opportunity to venture around the world to speak on artistry, representation, and LIFE. This season I’m in has brought me back to Chicago, specifically Evanston.

A place I affectionately call home because my time there allowed me time and space to dance with the questions that would ultimately lead me down a path of dreams manifested. New York and Paris would also find me in this season and allow me to give appreciation to the artistry of others and dissect and reflect on my own.

A season of full circle, however, the circle still revolves. My expression is nowhere near complete. But I wanted to slow down and share with you all what I’ve been echoing to the world lately. These are not essays per se; they were speeches/talks/remarks curated for each moment. Enjoy.
